Auto Paint Repair & Color Matching in San Ramon
Scratches, scuffs, chips, faded clear coat, and full panel refinishing — sprayed in a climate-controlled downdraft booth and matched to your vehicle's exact factory color code.
A paint repair either disappears or it does not. There is no in-between, which is why refinishing is the part of collision work that separates good shops from average ones. D & S Auto Body Shop refinishes vehicles in a climate-controlled downdraft paint booth using a computerized color matching system calibrated to OEM standards.
We handle everything from a single scuffed bumper corner to a complete respray, on daily drivers, work trucks, luxury vehicles, and EVs. Every paint repair we perform carries a lifetime warranty on workmanship.

Our Paint Repair Process
- 01
Digital color scan
We read your factory paint code and scan the actual panel, because sun exposure and age shift a color away from its original formula.
- 02
Prep and prime
The panel is sanded, repaired, sealed, and primed. Prep is where paint jobs are won or lost, so we do not rush it.
- 03
Base and clear application
Base coat and clear coat are sprayed in a downdraft booth that controls dust, airflow, and temperature for a factory-quality finish.
- 04
Blend, cure, and polish
New paint is blended into adjacent panels so there is no visible edge, then baked, cut, polished, and inspected under booth lighting.
Why Color Matching Is Harder Than It Looks
Two cars that rolled off the same assembly line in the same color rarely match perfectly a few years later. UV exposure, wash chemicals, and Bay Area sun all shift a finish over time, and manufacturers themselves use multiple variants of the same paint code. Simply mixing to the code on your door jamb is not enough.
We scan the actual panel, mix to that reading, spray a test card, and verify the match before anything touches your vehicle. Then we blend the new paint into the surrounding panels so the transition is invisible to the eye rather than stopping abruptly at a panel edge.
Downdraft Booth Refinishing
Airborne dust is the enemy of a clean finish. Our downdraft booth pulls filtered air from the ceiling down past the vehicle and out through the floor, carrying overspray and contaminants away from the wet surface. Controlled temperature and bake cycles let the clear coat cure properly rather than flashing off unevenly.
The result is a finish with factory-level gloss and depth — not the orange peel and dust nibs that come out of an uncontrolled spray environment.
Spot Repair vs. Full Panel Refinishing
Not every scratch needs a full panel. When damage is small and well placed, a spot repair with a proper blend is faster, less expensive, and completely invisible. When damage crosses a body line, sits in the middle of a large flat surface like a hood, or involves a tri-coat pearl finish, refinishing the full panel and blending into the neighbors gives a far better result.
We recommend the smaller repair whenever it will hold up, and we tell you honestly when it will not.
Why Choose D & S Auto Body Shop
Our booth and mixing system are calibrated to OEM standards — meaning your repaired panel looks identical to the rest of your vehicle, and stays that way.
