You Choose the Shop — Not Your Insurance Company
This is the single most important thing to know about a California auto claim: the repair facility is your decision. Insurers maintain direct repair program networks and will often steer you toward one, but they cannot require you to use it, and choosing your own shop does not void your coverage or your claim.
Steering happens, sometimes subtly. If you are told your claim will take longer, cost more, or lose its warranty because you picked an independent shop, that is not accurate — call us and we will explain your options.
Supplements: Why the First Estimate Is Rarely the Last
An initial estimate is written from what is visible on the outside of the car. Once we disassemble the damaged area, we routinely find bent brackets, cracked mounts, damaged absorbers, or harness damage that nobody could see. That additional work is documented as a supplement and submitted to your carrier for approval.
Supplements are normal and expected. What matters is that your shop documents them properly and pursues approval rather than quietly cutting corners to stay inside the original number.
OEM Parts, Aftermarket Parts, and Your Policy
Insurers frequently specify aftermarket or recycled parts to control cost. Whether that is acceptable depends on the part, the vehicle, and the language in your policy. We document where OEM parts are required for fit, finish, or safety and make that case to your carrier on your behalf.
If your policy does not cover the OEM part and you want it anyway, we will show you the price difference clearly so you can decide.
